Randall Family Park Ribbon Cutting

The City of Tuscaloosa officially cut the ribbon on the Randall Family Park and Trailhead at the Northern Riverwalk on the morning of Thursday, January 6, 2022.

“Tuscaloosa has always found its soul by its river,” Mayor Walt Maddox said. “The waters that flow through our city connect us, and what we’ve seen on the southern side of our river is that the Riverwalk is a place that brings our community together.”

Joining Mayor Maddox at the podium were Frank Randall, City Council President Kip Tyner, and former City Council President Cynthia Almond.

The Randall Family Park and Trailhead along with 0.6 miles of Riverwalk path are phase one of the Elevate Tuscaloosa Northern Riverwalk project. This phase of the project is made possible by a 19-acre land donation from the Randall family, valued at $2.72 million.

Construction on the project, which includes a park, trailhead, recreational path, playground, pavilion and parking area, began in February of 2021.
