The City of Tuscaloosa held a ribbon cutting for the Rock Quarry Landing Improvements on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 9 a.m.
Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox, Councilor Norman Crow and Lakes Manager James LaFoy spoke during the ceremony.
“Lake Tuscaloosa has provided us the opportunity to grow the University of Alabama, to attract world class companies like Mercedes-Benz,” said Mayor Maddox. “We’ve been very fortunate as a City to have this amazing asset, and it took a lot of vision to make that happen.”
Improvements to the landing included easier access to the lake, aluminum boat docks and safety improvements for boaters.
“The future is bright,” said Councilor Crow. “We will keep expanding opportunities so we can keep seeing more people enjoying the lake.”
“Rock Quarry is a gateway for people who don’t live by the lake to use the lake,” said LaFoy. “It’s amazing to me how far we’ve come.”
Construction on this Elevate Tuscaloosa project began in the spring of 2023 and was completed in February of 2024. Learn more here.
